A swing...

...and a miss.

My soccer game ended up lasting until 18:30, so I missed out on the first 4 tourneys on my schedule :(

I was pretty pissed and had a throbbing headache which didn't help my other results. I ended up losing just over $3k in cashgames before pulling the plug and skipping the Sunday Million in order not to make the day a total disaster. Highlight of the day was my only cash: 100th place in the UB $215 tourney for a whopping $300. It'll be easy just to forget about today and refocus tomorrow.

MTT schedule for today

The $5/10NL games have been running pretty well the last few days, I was able to pick up a few more buy-ins and am looking at a pretty decent month overall. Because today is Sunday and Sunday is the motherload of all days for a poker player, I am going to try and play some tourneys instead of just cashgames to mix it up a bit. Here's what I've got planned:

18:00 - HollywoodPoker $75k guaranteed ($300+20)
18:30 - EverestPoker $100k guaranteed ($100+9)
18:45 - Pokerstars Sunday Warmup $350k guaranteed ($200+15)
18:45 - PartyPoker $300k guaranteed ($200+15)
21:00 - CelebPoker $40k guaranteed ($50+5)
22:00 - Bodog $100k guaranteed ($100+9)
22:30 - Pokerstars Sunday Million ($500+30)
22:00 - Mansion $100k guaranteed ($100+9)
23:00 - UltimateBet $200k guaranteed ($200+15)
00:00 - FullTiltPoker $400k guaranteed ($200+16)

All in all the buy-ins total up to $2093. If I see that it's just not my day I may opt to save the $530 and skip the Sunday Million, but we'll see. I invite anyone who reads this blog to come and join me in these tourneys. If you do, drop by my table and say hi!

Finally got internet

After waiting more than 3 weeks for Alice to come and finally get our internet connection live and kicking, it finally got set-up yesterday. The wireless connection is still have some spasm attacks, but all in all I'm pretty happy with it.

I told myself this morning that I would dig myself out of my -$7.2k hole for the month. Unfortunately for me, I didn't make $7.2k today. I made $12k instead :)

It was truly an unbelievable day, I won almost all my coinflips and had a couple nice set-up hands. Combine that with opponents going on monkey tilt and you have a combination that is destined to have you earning buy-in after buy-in. At the end of the day I had accumulated a total of 12 buy-ins in 3 sessions of a few hours each. That puts me up $4.7k for the month and I couldn't be happier!

Not playing

I haven't been playing these past 10 days much at all because the internet hasn't been set up in the new apartment yet. That should get done tomorrow and then I can get back into the grind and see if I can dig myself out of the 7.2k hole I've dug myself into in April.

Swinging down

I've been running pretty crappy the last couple days and am now down around $5,000 for the month. I can't seem to find my groove in the $5/10NL games yet and have lost a couple buy-ins mainly due to questionable calls on my part.

I'm going to take a day or two off and see if I can plug some leaks in my game. Everyone hates variance, but I'm not sure if I can attribute this downswing to variance or to my own bad play. The next couple days of studying should be able to give me an answer to that...

$5/10NL in April

I spent the last two weeks moving into a new apartment and therefore have had really little time to play poker. I made the jump to the $5/10NL games which has been running shaky but breakeven thusfar. I've logged in just 20 hours and am down something around $1000, which is just one buy-in. The main noticeable difference to the $2/4 and $3/6 games is that the $5/10 games are filled with a lot more regulars and the game is 10x more aggressive than in the lower levels. It should take me a little longer to get fully adjusted but I look forward to the challenge.

Other than that, the new apartment is really sweet and is something I'm very stoked about. Internet is being installed on April 17th so starting then I should be able to get in plenty of more hours for the month.

March recapped

All in all March was a great month for me. The transition from shorthanded SNGs to shorthanded cash games went smoother than planned and the results are the best I've ever had in a month. In 59.1 hours of play I managed to make a profit of +$13,161.96. I would say that around $10k was from cash games and the other $3k from SNGs. It was very convenient that I managed to hit such a heater from the moment I started playing this month. I realize that these results will be nearly impossible to maintain, but I think that coming close should be something I should be striving for.

According to my estimation I played around 20k cash game hands in March, which is significantly less than what I would like to be playing each month. Because I was in Vienna for the first 10 days of the month, I missed out on a lot of hours and hands that would be part of a "normal" month for me. My ultimate goal would be something like 35-40k hands and 100 hours of play.

I am not sure how busy April is going to be for me. I am in the process of moving into a new apartment, which is going to be very time-consuming I'm afraid. Once that is out of the way and internet is set-up in the new apartment (2 weeks), I should be able to get into a daily groove that allows plenty of time for play.
